SWTOR Aeon Guide Review

Featured

This blog entry is dedicated to an in-depth review of Aeon Guide. If you don’t know already, Aeon Guide is a new premium SWTOR guide that launched recently. The team of authors at Aeon guide recently invited me to review their site and overall concept.

Banner image

I’d be honest. I wasn’t expecting much. But too my surprise, it turns out to be one of the best dedicated SWTOR sites I’ve come across. No random filler content, no crap – everything is all concise, straight and to the point.

Keep reading if you want to learn more about Aeon Guide. Click here skip rest of the review and directly move to http://aeonguide.com.

The guide isn’t entirely ready yet, that’s why they have it up for a 40% discount. What they have in so far is step by step fastest leveling guide for level for all 8 base classes 16 advanced classes. These are simply amazing – a perfect and a must-read for new comers who are always confused with tons of skills and options they are presented with.

I had a brief chat with the Josh, the lead editor at Aeon Guide about their expansion plans and what’s coming up next. Within a few weeks of launch they they managed to roll out entire 1-50 leveling guides for each and every class. These are not your typical walk-throughs but actual tips and tricks on what to do at each and every level. What abilities to pick, what rotations to use, what order to use them in, etc.

But this isn’t what I consider the most important part. It might be good for beginners but for intermediate and advanced level players, all that matters is PvP and end-game. Aeon guide also offers PvP builds with detailed research on why their suggested builds are ideal.

Overall I think it would be a really nice and friendly community to be a part of. All your questions and concerns are addressed by the team of players who are actually writing the guides which makes it more fun as you always get to chat and make friends with some of the best players in the MMO industry.

From what I see so far, I think it’s really worth giving a shot. If you haven’t seen it already click here to check out http://aeonguide.com.

Which is the best SWTOR Guide?

Featured

It was really a disappointment to see that some of the guides barely had anything to offer. But we’re still near the game launch so they’re probably updating the content.

Among all, we found one to be of exceptional quality, both content and support wise. The guide is written by some of the leading authors who are in MMO industry since several years now.

Click above to check out the detailed comparison and review of some of the best SWTOR guides out there. We know it can be very difficult to keep up with everyone else, especially if you work full time and barely have few hours to spare on playing SWTOR. We hope you find our detailed reviews and recommendation helpful.

SWTOR Marauder Guide

Hello and welcome to our SWTOR Marauder Guide, in any game it is very important that you pick the class that best suits your preferred playstyle. In this SWTOR Marauder Guide I’ll cover what exactly your possible roles will be, as well as give a general overview of the class and finally go over some of the key abilities involved so you have a good idea of what kind of skills you can expect to find within the class.

SWTOR Marauder Guide Overview

The Marauder comes from the Sith Warrior, the other optional advanced class is the Juggernaut. The Marauder is pretty much a straight damage dealing beast, unlike the Juggernaut where some of the damage is lost to the tanking possibilities. One cool thing about the Marauder class is that you are able to dual wield, which looks really badass. There are a lot of pros as well as several cons involved with the Marauder, so let’s cover those.

As for pros, you’re going to have some of the best damage in the game, also the Marauder has decent mobility at certain times. You have a bloodlust type ability which increases 15% damage and healing of your entire raid group every 5 minutes. You’re not limited to just one type of damage dealing also, you can choose between either a direct damage route or a damage over time type playstyle.

Now, it wouldn’t be a SWTOR Marauder Guide if I didn’t also cover the cons involved, the Marauder class is pretty easy to learn, however, it is pretty difficult to master as well. This is somewhat of a pro as well as a con, it really depends on how often you play this character. Your damage is very reliant on an annoyingly constant checking of whats available to use as far as your abilities are concerned, as well as your rage and fury.

SWTOR Marauder Guide Talent Trees

Annihilation: As I said earlier you have a choice between damage over time and direct damage. This tree is the damage over time route, you should be in Juyo form if you choose this path, and you’ll want to focus on a more aggressive rush in and do work mentality.

Carnage: Here we have the direct damage option, you’ll need a totally different mindset if you’ve been playing Annihilation and choose to switch over to carnage, you won’t be able to just apply DoTs and kite an enemy around while slapping some moderate direct damage abilities from time to time. As Carnage you’ll be in Ataru form, which is more of a steady direct damage based form obviously.

Rage: Now we go into the Shared talent tree, which as you know is shared with the Juggernaut advanced class but still differentiates as you’ll have Marauder abilities instead of Juggernaut abilities. Rage is a fantastic PvP option as it allows you to utilize your mobility as well as give you a mix of direct damage, damage over time, and crowd control abilities.

SWTOR Marauder Guide Key Abilities

Bloodthirst: One reason everyone loves to have a Marauder in their group is Bloodthirst, when activated it will convert 30 stacks of fury to ensue Bloodthirst, which increases all damage and healing by 15% by everyone in your party. This effect will last for 15 seconds.

Deadly Throw: Here we have a good PvP ability, or if there is healing involved in a PvE battle it can be useful as well. It deals 1510 – 1619 damage as well as inflicting a Trauma debuff for 15 seconds, it will reduce all healing received by the target by 20%.

Rupture: This is a really low direct damage ability but has extremely high additional damage over time.

SWTOR Marauder Guide Conclusion

Now you should have all the required information to decide if this is the class for you, obviously there is a whole lot more involved, so I encourage you to check into our other advanced class guides to compare with those as well as our Build guides so you have a good idea of what each of the 3 possible builds has to offer. Best of luck, and I hope you’ve been helped by my SWTOR Marauder Guide.

SWTOR Scoundrel Scrapper PvP Build

Welcome to our build guide for the Smuggler, this particular guide will focus on the SWTOR Scoundrel Scrapper PvP Build. Throughout this guide we will first look at the actual top rated build itself, followed by a brief play style guide, as well as some general tips and reminders to look at, and the we will briefly go over a few of the key talents and abilities for this build. Now let’s get started!

SWTOR Scoundrel Scrapper PvP Build

http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#701McbZMIRRdkrbfzZh.1

SWTOR Scoundrel Scrapper PvP Build Playstyle

Alright, time to break down this build into a playstyle you can follow to be at the top of your game. I’ll warn you this guide is going to be a little more in-depth than some of the others I’ve written on this site, but the more information the better. Playing the Scrapper in PvP takes a lot of awareness, practice, studying, and general knowledge.

Energy is a high concern while playing the Scoundrel in any build, but especially as the Scrapper in PvP. Once you’ve dropped to around 10 energy you’re pretty much worthless. Cool Head is a good tool to help manage your energy as well as get some good damage going. Try to keep it available for when you’re running lower on energy.

You want to be very mobile, do your best to move around and get behind your enemies while fighting them, staying behind them will cause them to miss more abilities as well as force them to be more mobile, this is great for melee opponents or opponents you know have abilities with cast times, if you see them casting, move behind them to try and interrupt the cast that way.

If you have a lot of abilities on cooldown and you’ve got a melee based class charging you down, kite them. Kiting is an extremely useful tactic as a ranged character, using your snaring abilities and run as far and as fast as you can is a great way to repool your energy as well as burn those longer cooldown abilities. This tactic requires a lot of practice but once you’ve mastered kiting you’ll be one of the best pvpers out there.

Kick. Interrupts are vital in PvP, you see a healer about to cast a big heal, run up to them and kick them to interrupt and totally throw them out of their loop as well as probably cause an opponent to die because any time there’s a big heal going off they’re desperately trying to bring someone back up, interrupting this almost always causes a death that was almost prevented.

Flashbang is great ability to use, once you’ve flashbanged someone go into cover, now throw a sabotage on them. This sabotage is going to really hurt them, around the same damage as a backstab. Another thing to keep in mind is the fact that flashbang can heal you, so make good use of that.

A good solid rotation to deal roughly 8k damage directly and up to 2k damage per second afterwards would be something like this: Flashbang, then take cover and throw a sabotage charge, follow it up by an XS freighter and then a flechette round and finally a backblast. This is really effective on melee classes because they’ll need to stand in your fire in order to damage you. Still works well on ranged but just will be a little more effective on melee.

SWTOR Scoundrel Scrapper PvP Build Tips/Reminders

Honestly you’ve already got a lot on your plate to remember, however, we’ve still got a bit more to cover. Stealth is one thing you’re going to have to also try and utilize as the Scrapper, to be honest you deal so much damage with that burst rotation I talked about earlier even if you don’t master stealth you’ll still be a tough opponent in PvP, but it’s something to work on.

Remember to try and sneak before engaging an opponent, stealth doesn’t work really the same as it does in other games which allows you to leave and re-enter stealth more often then you’re used to if you play other rpgs, but using it ahead of time does really help especially if there are other stealth classes nearby. In a situation where you’re 1v1 with a stealth opponent 9 times out of 10 whoever gets the opening on the opponent is going to win the fight.

SWTOR Scoundrel Scrapper PvP Build Key Abilities

Sucker Punch: I haven’t talked about this ability yet, but it is something to keep locked in your arsenal of damage abilities. It requires that you have Upper Hand available, but if you do it will consume that Upper Hand to deal 1330 – 1552 damage to your target.

K.O.: This talent will cause your Shoot First ability (which should be your opener in most cases) to knock your target down for 3 seconds. This is really great in PvP as it will lock them down for 3 seconds and allow you to nuke them down with your high damage abilities and there isn’t a whole lot they’ll be able to do about it.

Flechette Round: I touched on this ability briefly in the rotation, basically it will load a “flechette round” which causes your next Shoot First ability or Back Blast ability to deal an additionally 1247 damage over 6 seconds. This will also increase your armor penetration by 50% for 15 seconds. One thing that makes this ability unique and awesome is that it will not break your stealth and ignores global cooldown so you don’t need to worry about using it and then a Shoot First because you can use both at the same time.

A great way to utilize this is to enter stealth, find a weak opponent, use Flechette Round and Shoot First at the same time as this will deal very high damage and knock them down due to K.O. and then move into the rotation from the playstyle, if the opponent is a weaker class or just not geared as well, you may be able to completely nuke them down before they can get back up from K.O.

SWTOR Scoundrel Scrapper PvP Build Conclusion

SWTOR Powertech Advanced Prototype Build

Welcome to our build guide for the Bounty Hunter, this particular guide will focus on the SWTOR Powertech Advanced Prototype Build. Throughout this guide we will first look at the actual top rated build itself, followed by a brief play style guide, as well as some general tips and reminders to look at, and the we will briefly go over a few of the key talents and abilities for this build. Now let’s get started!

SWTOR Powertech Advanced Prototype Build

http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#3010zZrsMrobckZfhrbzh.1

SWTOR Powertech Advanced Prototype Build Overview

Over the course of this guide I’ll go over a general playstyle for this particular build including a rotation guideline for you to follow, following that I’ll go over some general tips and reminders, and then move into the Key Abilities. Once I’ve covered all of that it’s time for you to jump in the game and plug everything in to put it to use! Honestly this build isn’t really a pure Advanced Prototype build, as you may have noticed there is 22 points in Advanced Prototype and 18 in Pyrotech, but this is the best way to utilize the points in the tree.

SWTOR Powertech Advanced Prototype Build Playstyle

It’s pretty simple, we’re just going to stick to a pretty solid rotation and there isn’t a whole lot more too it. Your top two abilities are going to be Rail Shot and Immolate. These are your two hardest hitting shots, and they also have 15 second cooldowns you’ll have to wait on giving you time to use other abilities.

Once you’ve used both of those you aren’t going to just sit around and wait 15 seconds, so you’ll want to use an Explosive Dart, followed by a Rapid Shot, next use your Retractable Blade, and then a Rocket Punch and a Flame Burst. At this point you’ll be able to use your Rail Shot and Immolate again and be back at square one and just need to keep repeating this.

You’ll notice this does require a slight amount of moving in and out of melee range in order to use all the abilities, this is totally worth it in order to utilize all of your best abilities. It will take some practice and getting used to but once you’ve done it enough it will become natural.

SWTOR Powertech Advanced Prototype Build Tips/Reminders

To be honest this is one the easiest builds and general play style I’ve covered in SWTOR, all you really need to worry about is keeping the rotation down and getting used to going in and out of melee range. One thing to remember is you shouldn’t re-apply your Damage over Time effect from Retractable Blade until it has fallen off unless you literally have nothing else to do, which you should never be in that situation.

Also Heat is something involved with all Bounty Hunters, therefore you’ll want to vent your heat out periodically to keep from overheating.

SWTOR Powertech Advanced Prototype Build Key Abilities

Retractable Blade: This ability will stab the target for 595 – 706 kinetic damage as well as cause them to bleed for 784 damage over 15 seconds. As I’ve stated earlier, try your best to not re-apply this effect until it has fallen off, it shouldn’t be hard to use other abilities in that 15 second time-frame.

Incendiary Missile: Fires a missile at your target dealing 313 – 424 damage directly as well as an additional 1178 damage over 18 seconds. As with retractable Blade, you will want to do your best to not re-apply this damage over time effect as well. It will be a little more tricky as it is an 18 second effect instead of a 15 second effect, so if you were planning on applying all DoTs one after another so you can re-apply them all one after another, you’ll need to re-think that strategy when planning to use Incendiary Missile.

Charged Gauntlets: Causes your Rocket Punch and Retractable Blade to have a 25% chance to cause your next Rail Shot to critically hit. You should be watching your Retractable Blade abilities to see if they proc Charged Gauntlets and if they do go ahead and fire a Rail Shot.

SWTOR Powertech Advanced Prototype Build Conclusion

SWTOR Guardian Vigilance Build

Welcome to our build guide for the Jedi Knight, this particular guide will focus on the SWTOR Guardian Vigilance Build. Throughout this guide we will first look at the actual top rated build itself, followed by a brief play style guide, as well as some general tips and reminders to look at, and the we will briefly go over a few of the key talents and abilities for this build. Now let’s get started!

SWTOR Guardian Vigilance Build

http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#500cZIGrRMhdd0kZG00M.1

SWTOR Guardian Vigilance Build Overview

The Vigilance build is DPS based for the Guardian, over the course of this guide I will cover a general playstyle/rotation and then I’ll go over some general tips and reminders for playing the build. After that some key abilities will be discussed and then it’s time to put all this good information to use and plug the build in and get to work.

SWTOR Guardian Vigilance Build Playstyle

There’s a little room to mess around with the Vigilance build, you don’t necessarily need to stick to a strict rotation, but in this section I’ll give you some guidelines as to what abilities you should be utilizing as well as a loose rotation. First of all you should know that Shien Form is the form you will be in at all times.

Your main damage ability will be Plasma Brand, it is not so much the base damage that is important, but the after effect damage over time that really works to your advantage. It will deal a moderate ~800 damage directly, but then another ~2k damage over 12 seconds. As soon as that 12 second duration has ended you will want to re-apply this, that is your #1 priority.

After that you’ll want to use Acrobatic Slash as that will inflict another ~2k direct damage. You might wonder why not use Acrobatic Slash first as it deals 2.5x as much direct damage, reason being you need to look at total damage, Plasma Brand will deal almost 3k whereas Acrobatic Slash will not deal much more than 2k. Now, if you’re fighting adds that will most likely die before 6-8 seconds, go ahead and prioritize Acrobatic Slash, but in most cases the fight will last over 12 seconds.

Feel free to throw in some Force Push, Overhead Slash, as well as a Saber Throw to help generate focus. Blade Storm and Dispatch are also both great abilities to utilize especially when Force Rush is active. Force Rush will cause your next Blade Storm and Dispatch abilities to have a 60% increased chance to critically hit after using Overhead Slash or Plasma Brand for 9 seconds. Therefore a good opener would be Plasma Brand, followed by Acrobatic Slash, followed by Blade Storm or Dispatch.

SWTOR Guardian Vigilance Build Tips/Reminders

There’s not a whole lot you need to remember as the Guardian Vigilance build, it’s mainly utilizing your Acrobatic Slash, Plasma Brand, and Overhead Slashes as they will be your main damage inflicting abilities.

One thing you’re going to need to practice is focus management, keep in mind that Saber Throw will deal some moderate damage as well as generate some focus for you. This isn’t going to be very hard but takes a bit of getting used to, once you’ve got it figured out though you will be set. Keep in mind all abilities will refund 1 focus when used in Shien Form.

SWTOR Guardian Vigilance Build Key Abilities

Shien Form: As I stated earlier you will be in this form at all times, now lets talk about what exactly comes with this form. It causes you to enter an offensive lightsaber form which will increase all damage dealt by 6%, that right there is what makes Vigilance a very nice DPS option as well as Shien Form a very nice thing to use. On top of this though, all attacks refund 1 focus when used, fantastic for focus management as stated earlier, although, you won’t be able to use an ability that requires 4 focus when you only have 3, but using one that requires 4 focus when you have 4 focus will leave you with 1 focus left over if that makes sense. This effect cannot occur more than once every 6 seconds, however.

Force Rush: This talent causes your next Blade Storm or Dispatch to have an increased chance to critically hit by 60% for 9 seconds after the use of an Overhead Slash or a Plasma Brand.

Burning Purpose: Causes Overhead Slash to set the target on fire for 6 seconds causing 200 damage over this time period.

Plasma Brand: Strikes your target for 722 – 833 damage and an additional 1968 damage over 12 seconds, very nice damage dealer right here.

SWTOR Guardian Vigilance Build Conclusion

SWTOR Marauder Rage PvP PvE Build

Welcome to our build guide for the Sith Warrior, this particular guide will focus on the SWTOR Marauder Rage Build. Throughout this guide we will first look at the actual top rated build itself, followed by a brief play style guide, as well as some general tips and reminders to look at, and the we will briefly go over a few of the key talents and abilities for this build. Now let’s get started!

If you are really serious about SWTOR and looking for an all-in-one guide packed with top leveling, credits and PVP builds guide, then I highly recommend that you check out this guide by clicking here.

SWTOR Marauder Rage Build

http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#100ZhGbZGMRrdbRdGo.1

SWTOR Marauder Rage Build Playstyle

The Rage build is a lot of fun to play as the Marauder advanced class, you’re able to put out some very high damage while maintaining some survivability. It’s similar to the Juggernaut rage as they’re both under the same main class but each advanced class has a shared with the other one, and that is this tree.

However, there are some differences which need to be pointed out. In this guide we’ll start out with how you actually play this build, followed by some tips, and then we’ll cover some key abilities and then it is time to start putting this information to use. So let’s get started, there isn’t a whole lot to remember as far as a rotation goes so I’m going to keep this pretty simple.

This build serves as both a PvP and a PvE build, I don’t strongly recommend using this in PvE fights simply because the Carnage and Annihilation builds would probably serve you much better, but keep in mind that this will do some high damage.

Open with enrage for the damage buff and then Charge in to build some rage, follow this up with a Force Crush, follow this up with a Ravage, once you’ve done this it’s a matter of using Smash and following it with a Force Scream. That alone is a very high amount of damage you’ve just inflicted, and that will be your main rotation. Feel free to throw in some Obliterates when your other abilities are on cooldown.

If you are really serious about SWTOR and looking for an all-in-one guide packed with top leveling, credits and PVP builds guide, then I highly recommend that you check out this guide by clicking here.

SWTOR Marauder Rage Build Tips/Reminders

Really you don’t need to remember a lot as I’ve said, it’s just a matter of getting down your rotation and utilizing it. I guess one thing I can say is do not get caught up too much in your rotation as that will cause a lack of attention as to what is going on around you.

Another cool thing about this build is that is also works great in PvP, and you can use almost the same rotation, just keep in mind you have abilities like Force Push that can be utilized a lot better in PvP than they can in PvP.

If you can, try to utilize the Dominate talent, this will cause your next Smash to automatically Critical Hit after using a Force Charge or Obliterate (you have 15 seconds to put this to use after activating Force Charge or Obliterate)

If you are really serious about SWTOR and looking for an all-in-one guide packed with top leveling, credits and PVP builds guide, then I highly recommend that you check out this guide by clicking here.

SWTOR Marauder Rage Build Key Abilities

Obliterate: This ability I hadn’t spoke of much in the guide, but I feel it gets a little underrated, it is a great PvP ability because it actually allows you to jump to the target as well as deal some moderate damage. It also works as a good filler for when your other high-damage abilities are on cooldown.

Interceptor: Another good PvP and all around helpful key talent for the Rage build, Interceptor will increase your movement speed by 40% for 5 seconds after using Obliterate, so just another reason why Obliterate is a lot better then it seems, keep in mind that this can also be very useful in PvE fights that require a lot of mobility, not just PvP.

Force Crush: Your 31 point talent ability in Rage is great, Force Crush will progressively slow a target from 60-10% movement speed over a duration of 5 damage as while as deal damage each second, at the end of this the target received 804 damage. Now, can you not see that being absolutely devastating in PvP? Because I certainly can, just another reason this makes for such a good PvP as well as PvE build.

Dark Resonance/Malice: I’d like to close by touching on some key talents that contribute a lot to PvE damage as I fell like I’ve emphasized a lot of good PvP stuff but not as much PvE. These two talents combine to increase the crit damage of force attacks by 30% as while as the crit chance by 6%, two great damage built-in build damage buffs here.

If you are really serious about SWTOR and looking for an all-in-one guide packed with top leveling, credits and PVP builds guide, then I highly recommend that you check out this guide by clicking here.

SWTOR Marauder Rage Build Conclusion

SWTOR Mercenary Arsenal Build

Welcome to our build guide for the Bounty Hunter, this particular guide will focus on the SWTOR Mercenary Arsenal Build. Throughout this guide we will first look at the actual top rated build itself, followed by a brief play style guide, as well as some general tips and reminders to look at, and the we will briefly go over a few of the key talents and abilities for this build. Now let’s get started!

SWTOR Mercenary Arsenal Build

http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#300bfRoozZMIkoRrdRzc.1

SWTOR Mercenary Arsenal Build Play Style

The Arsenal build for Mercenaries is one that involves launching out rockets and missiles at a swift rate, having the ability to have moderate control over the battlefield with your crowd control effects, and also having such perks as being able to scan for stealthed enemies. The play style is a run and gun gig for the most part, though as always you can only benefit from having increased awareness and caution- depending on the situation.

As an Arsenal built Mercenary be prepared to spam your attacks. One of the core abilities; Tracer Missile provides the basis for almost all your damage down the road. In most scenarios you will find yourself fire it multiple times per enemy, and often in succession of each other. Arsenal Mercenaries also still benefit immensely from the buffs that the procs provide. Much like the other versions of this class, procs have a chance to activate while you are in combat and actively engaging your opponent. This goes only to further the running and gunning aspect ideal of this class, being that you always want to be keeping pressure on your opponent. Even if it is only regular attacks, getting your procs to activate can often times have the ability to turn the tide of the fight.

Arsenal Mercenaries are (much like the Pyrotech versions of the class) a DPS based class. In team situation you have the ability to be the boots on the ground, and the cowboy of the battle. With this in mind though, it is always wise to know where the tank is in correspondence to yourself, along with your exit strategies should you bite off more than you can chew. This is a fairly common occurrence with those playing Arsenal as though the class is extremely powerful, sometimes that can cause you to have a bit more ambition than you have health.

Mercenaries use their abilities on a system of heat management, rather than energy. Almost all of your abilities and skills will increase your heat as you use them, and the higher your heat gets (heat can be monitored on the bar below your health) the longer it takes to cool down. There is one great ability Mercenaries get to cull this effect though, called Vent Heat which will dispense a portion of your accumulated heat, and continue to cool your character’s heat down for a few seconds after.

SWTOR Mercenary Arsenal Build Tips/Reminders

It is often best to follow a rotation that puts emphasis on your Tracer Missile. You may feel a bit overstimulated with the amount of damage abilities the Arsenal Mercenary has,  and you might want to want to go ahead and try and use them all in one fight. Not to say this is a bad practice, and surely you have the freedom to play as you see fit, but by focusing your rotation around Tracer Missile and by using it multiple times in a row you not only prepare your target for the rest of your now boosted barrage of damage, you also increase the likelihood of your main proc firing.

Another important tool to get used to using is your camera. Try panning and looking around at all times while you engage your enemies and maneuver throughout the battlefield. Get comfortable with moving your camera around to all sides, and even behind you while you move and do your battle. The payoff is that your foes will have a harder time closing on you, greatly reducing the amount of danger you subject yourself to and any damage you might receive otherwise.

SWTOR Mercenary Arsenal Build Key Abilities/Talents

Tracer Missile: As mentioned previously this is your core attack for this build. It deals 1328-1495 kinetic damage and applies a “heat signature” to the target. This means the target will have their armor reduced by 4% for 15 seconds. Some may scoff at this as being too miniscule to have any amount of payoff. The charm of this attack is that the armor reduction effect stacks up to 5 times, meaning 20% of your target’s armor will no longer be working to fend off the rest of your onslaught.

Jet Boost: This is another great ability you have at your disposal. While shared with the other types of Mercenary builds, it makes itself right at home with the Arsenal toolset. Jet Boost will knock up to 5 nearby enemies backwards and away, dealing 1193-1323 elemental damage. It also slows the movement speed of the affected targets by 60% for 4 seconds, which is a pretty significant slow.

Fusion Missile: While this ability can still be used to great success in PvP it can really shine in PvE. Fusion Missile 1322-1785 kinetic damage to up to 3 targets within 5 meters, it also places a DoT on the targets for 1957 elemental damage over 6 seconds, meaning it has an awful powerful tick. In PvE though, standard and weak targets enter a state of panic when set on fire by this ability which means you are able to control adds to some extent.

SWTOR Mercenary Arsenal Build Conclusion

There you have it, everything you’ll need to know to master this build and bring it into the game. Be sure to check out some of our other build guides as well as overall class guides, leveling guides, and much more for SWTOR!

SWTOR Mercenary Pyrotech Build

Welcome to our build guide for the Bounty Hunter, this particular guide will focus on the SWTOR Mercenary Pyrotech Build. Throughout this guide we will first look at the actual top rated build itself, followed by a brief play style guide, as well as some general tips and reminders to look at, and the we will briefly go over a few of the key talents and abilities for this build. Now let’s get started!

SWTOR Mercenary Pyrotech Build

http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#3000cZMckZfhbbdGhrs.1

SWTOR Mercenary Pyrotech Build Play Style

The Pyrotech is a class best suited for the type of player who enjoys being able to chase and kite their opponents, using the myriad of crowd control tools and direct damage abilities that the class has to offer. The key difference between the Mercenary Pyrotech and the Powertech Pyrotech is that the Mercenary Pyrotech is the advanced class version of the Powertech. You will have increased damage and a greater capability to take larger amounts of damage.

As a Pyrotech Mercenary your abilities will be heavily focused around fire damage, meaning you want to make sure your targets stay nice and toasty warms (setting them on fire also helps). One main component of this class is the procs that have the ability to trigger during combat. These procs will increase your damage and activate your Combustible Gas Cylinder causing even more fire damage. Certain talents such as Prototype Burn Enhancers increase the critical hit chance of all fire effects, stacking on even more damage.

In team play the Mercenary Pyrotech dishes out some pretty extreme damage. Pay attention to the tank at all times, as you will most likely be pulling some aggro with high damage abilities such as Rail Shot. Also, it is important to stick close to the rest of your fellow DPS’ers in the team should you have a class such as another Bounty Hunter trying to keep you all alive with AoE heals.

SWTOR Mercenary Pyrotech Build Tips/Reminders

While some may feel that the Pyrotech is a bit if a stealth and subterfuge based class, that isn’t completely the case. While they can still benefit from some stealth play, they are a class that can easily handle being in the heat of the battle. By using your armor enhancements, shielding, and the minor healing you have the option to use, your damage will actually see an increase by getting up close and personal, as your melee attacks are what trigger your procs.

Overall, awareness is key in this class. In a team situation it may feel like second nature to run right up to a group of enemies and begin blasting away, but your defensive tactics can only protect you so much. Pyrotech is a DPS class, so pay attention to where your healer is and what the tank is engaging and you will do just fine.

Along with that, always make sure you are keeping your enemies out of your personal space. Do this by panning your camera left and right whenever you are moving in to engage a target, and even when you are simply navigating an area. Get comfortable with moving your camera around to all sides, and even behind you while you move and do your battle. The payoff is that suddenly nobody will be able to come near you without your permission, greatly reducing the amount of danger you subject yourself to and any damage you might receive otherwise. Thusly that lets you focus on your primary task of laying on the DPS.

SWTOR Mercenary Pyrotech Build Key Abilities/Talents

Combustible Gas Cylinder: This skill is by far the most important skill you have at your disposal. It is similar to the effect that Tracer Dart has on the Arsenal build, in that it benefits nearly every part of the Pyrotech build. It is a permanent passive buff that gives all of your attacks a 16% chance to proc damage over time on your target. In addition to the proc and also doing decent direct damage, it also slows your attacker for 2 seconds, and will increase the damage done by a good portion of your abilities by 9%. Combustible Gas Cylinder also allows for use of Rail Shot.

Incendiary Missile: This ability may not seem like it will be doing a lot for you in the damage department at first, but don’t be fooled. While it only does a base damage of 313-424 elemental damage, it also inflicts an additional 1178 elemental damage over the course of 18 seconds.

Thermal Detonator: This is the highest skill in the Pyrotech tree. When thrown at a target the grenade will then stick to the target, and detonate moments later. Standard and below enemies will begin to panic while the explosion is active, and are also knocked back. The blast itself deals a crushing 1566-1678 kinetic damage.

Jet Boost: Probably one of the most recognizable skills Pyrotechs have at disposal. This ability rockets you skyward into the air via your jet pack, knocking up to 5 enemies away from you. In addition to the knockback, it deals 1193-1323 elemental damage and those knocked back have their movement speed reduced by 60% for 4 seconds.

SWTOR Gunslinger Dirty Fighting Build

Welcome to our build guide for the Smuggler, this particular guide will focus on the SWTOR Gunslinger Dirty Fighting Build. Throughout this guide we will first look at the actual top rated build itself, followed by a brief play style guide, as well as some general tips and reminders to look at, and the we will briefly go over a few of the key talents and abilities for this build. Now let’s get started!

SWTOR Gunslinger Dirty Fighting Build

http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#700bcZbcZGbbkrrhdhR.1

SWTOR Gunslinger Dirty Fighting Build Play Style

As the name suggests the Dirty Fighting build constitutes a play style that is very quick on the draw, incredibly fast paced, and extra mobile. When you begin getting into this play style/build, try to think of yourself as the fist in someone’s face, rather than the thorn in their side that the Saboteur build can often be likened to. Your job is to run up on the unwitting, blast away those not paying close attention to your whereabouts, and then ditch the joint before anything can be done about it.

While other Gunslinger builds usually require a bit more care and subtlety, the Dirty Fighter can for the most part get away with being the hero of the day. In team PvE situations when you are faced with medium to large groups of enemies, look for the straggler that does not hold the attention of the rest of the team. You have the ability to engage them with extreme prejudice, so feel free to open up on them. That being said it is never a bad idea to know your exits, and to know where your tank and healer are in proportion to not only you, but your exits as well.

The Dirty Fighter is unique that most of the damage you inflict will come in the form of bleeding effects. Bleeding effects are almost like poisons in a way, except that they do not inflict damage of their own but act as “stacks” for other abilities to heap on even more damage. The core of these abilities are Wounding Shot and Hemorrhaging Shot, which will be looked at closer in the Key Abilities section.

When working with damage-over-times you want to monitor your DPS in the literal sense of the term. Know how much damage is being inflicted on your target per second, and get a feel for how long it will last. This may seem like an obtuse concept, but one way to really maximize your damage is to begin to practice this. Focus on the higher health targets in any team engagement, as you want to admit the most time possible for your DoTs to tick. Starting on an enemy who is at full health will often be ideal, but even opening your DoTs a foe who is at just over half health can be beneficial, as later on in your skill tree for this build your damage from the DoTs will be increased as their health sinks below a certain percentage.

SWTOR Gunslinger Dirty Fighting Build Tips/Reminders

Run and gun. This is definitely a kiting class, so don’t be afraid to ditch out of an encounter you can’t handle. On the opposing hand though, don’t feel you need to be frugal with your damage. Jump in there, start messing someone (or thing) up and if that doesn’t work, feel free to get out of there.

Target Healers and those that they are following and healing. By keeping your focus and pressure on them you make it easier for them to be steamrolled by the rest of your group, since they will have constant damage to contend with (IE your DoTs).

Amidst all the emphasis for reckless abandon while playing this class, don’t get the wrong message. Cover is still important to make use of, especially since some of your core damage nukes require it. The idea isn’t to disregard cover completely, but to be more aggressive with it.

SWTOR Gunslinger Dirty Fighting Build Key Abilities/Talents

Hemorrhaging Shot: This is a core damage nuke, coupled with the ability to compound more damage with bleeding effects. It deals 161-247 weapon damage and causes the target to take an additional 30% from the next 10 bleed effects. This lasts 15 seconds.

Wounding Shots: Deals 145-221 weapon damage, and for each bleeding effect present on the target it deals an additional 221 internal damage. Skills such as Reopen Wounds and Cold Blooded further amplify this effect.

Throughout this guide we will first look at the actual top rated build itself, followed by a brief play style guide, as well as some general tips and reminders to look at, and the we will briefly go over a few of the key talents and abilities for this build. Now let’s get started!

SWTOR Shadow Infiltration Build Guide

http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#601McZhGMRkGMrtzZc.1

SWTOR Shadow Infiltration Build Guide Playstyle

This build is really great for early on, unlike most other builds you already have most of your toolset by level 20. It’s a pretty straight forward play style, you don’t have many escape abilities but your offensive strength and ability to control a situation is pretty much unmatched by any other build for Shadow. Although a lot of your damage will be coming out of your force attacks, you have a lot of burst abilities that are just straight forward and powerful in themselves.

Keep in mind that with this build you’re focusing on burst damage and harassment. It can be extremely effective in PvP because of your skirmishing power and just raw damage. Despite having a lot of close range attacks, you really have nothing to make up for distance, there’s no range abilities and no real methods of gap closing other than Force Speed.

For your rotation you want to feel free to use up your recourses because you can gain them back pretty easily if you just give it a bit of time.  Start out with Saber Strike, or Rush to your target with Force Speed. Follow that with Shadow Strike, make sure you’re behind the target for this, it gives damage boost. Now you want to either use Whirling blow if it’s a multi enemy situation, or Force Breach if everything else is on cool down.

SWTOR Shadow Infiltration Build Guide Tips/Reminders

Your main tool with this class is your burst damage, so if you run out of things to hit there’s no shame in running in PvP. Your only real escape method though is using Force Speed, and then you’re still able to get stopped in your tracks because of all of the CC abilities people have in this game.

Remember that you have huge amounts of spike damage, so in PvE you will be generating a lot of threat. Instead of popping everything all at once, try to space apart you damage so you don’t pull agro from the tank, not only will that make the healers job more difficult, but you might make the tank angry.

Make sure you’re always communicating with your team before entering a skirmish, it’s important you always know the tanks intentions and know what mob to focus on. If nobody else in your team is talking, try starting the conversation, but always try to be polite.

SWTOR Shadow Infiltration Build Guide Key Abilities/Talents

Clairvoyant Strike: This is a pretty good damage ability because It strikes twice, and both of those strikes can be critical so It’s a large amount of damage in a small amount of time. This will Strike the target twice, dealing 685-764 weapon damage for each hit. Each use of these ability increases the damage death by your next project by 15%. This can stack up to 2 times.

Low Slash: this slashes the target low, dealing 1129-1259 weapon damage and incapacitating the target for 4 seconds. Damage causes this effect to end prematurely. This requires a double light saber. This is a great damage ability for PvP because it is moderate damage on top of a long stun which allows you to gain some time for your cool downs to come back.

Masked Assault: Blackout can now be used out of stealth mode, granting 6 seconds of Shadow’s Respite and restoring 10 force. In addition, Force Cloak no longer reduces healing done and received. A great talent to pick up because being stealthed to use Blackout is not the best option to open a fight with, and you can use it in the middle of your rotation now. On top of that, it restores much needed force.

Infiltration Tactics: Direct damage attacks have a 30% chance to grant Find Weakness, causeing your next Shadow Strike to ignore 50% of the target’s armor and cost 50% less Force. This can only occure every 10 seconds.

SWTOR Gunslinger Saboteur Build

Welcome to our build guide for the Smuggler, this particular guide will focus on the SWTOR Gunslinger Saboteur Build. Throughout this guide we will first look at the actual top rated build itself, followed by a brief play style guide, as well as some general tips and reminders to look at, and the we will briefly go over a few of the key talents and abilities for this build. Now let’s get started!

SWTOR Gunslinger Saboteur Build

http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#7000cZrIbdokbRrcZG0bz.1

SWTOR Gunslinger Saboteur Build Play Style

One of the biggest draw-points of a Saboteur is the ability to inflict stunning amounts of AoE damage very reliably. While the Sharpshooter and Dirty Trick routes some Gunslingers go mostly focus on single target DPS and cover, the Saboteur is better fitted for group engagements and mobility. You still use some of the same tools that your fellow Gunslingers do such as Speed Shot and Charged shot, but apart from that you are not limited to being in cover for your other abilities.

So if you aren’t made to be ducking in cover constantly, what are you to do? Well as mentioned earlier mobility is key. Since you do not have to camp your cover as much in order to be any amount of effective, you are free to stick to your group, or kite your opponents. You still have minor defenses (your basic heal and cover protection skills), so don’t feel like you are completely left out to dry. Along with all that, Pulse Detonator is a great way to keep your foes out of your personal space.

When playing as a Saboteur it helps to keep the mentality that the name implies in mind. You exist to mess other things (and people) up. You live to be the thorn in someone else’s side, so persistence and consistency in your tactics is very helpful indeed. In team situations focus on the middle of a group of enemies, and begin practice by using your core AoE abilities such as your Thermal Grenade and Sabotage Charge. This will make everyone else’s job much easier, since you have the capability to cripple decent sized groups of enemies, as well as putting on some serious hurt.

SWTOR Gunslinger Saboteur Build Tips/Reminders

While it may feel difficult to grasp the idea of staying alive as a saboteur, you do have good tools at hand to make sure you are not just a lowly AoE DPS stick. Pulse Detonator is a great way to get out of an unwanted situation, as it possesses the power to knock back and immobilize targets in your vicinity.

Begin refining your damage consistency by practicing using combos. Try using the DoT from Shock Charge in conjunction with Sabotage Charge, Vital Shot, or Speed Shot and finish it out with Detonate. Tricks and combos like these are one of the best ways to become quickly and swiftly successful as a Saboteur. Go ahead and try out your own combos and maneuvers though, some of the most fun of being a Saboteur comes  from being able to put your own personal touch on your character’s combat habits and abilities.

SWTOR Gunslinger Saboteur Build Key Abilities/Talents

Pulse Detonator: This aforementioned crowd control ability will save your life. It is your way of getting out of any sticky melee situation. Pulse Detonator knocks all of your nearby enemies back several meters, along with immobilizing them for 5 seconds. Though, if you do enter combat with them while this is taking effect, it is reduced to 2 seconds. Unfortunately this ability is only executable from cover.

Sabotage Charge: Deals incredible amounts of damage from the get-go. Has the ability to be coupled with Speed Shot and Quick Shot to become a fantastic burst. Alone it deals 5923-6356 kinetic damage. Standard and Weak enemies will be knocked back and set on fire, dealing 844 elemental damage additionally.  The skills Contingency Charges and Insurrection are also great ways to get more bang for your charge with this ability.
Shock Charge: Sticks to an enemy and deals 2581 energy damage over 18 seconds. Use Sabotage with this ability to cause an extra 587-754 kinetic damage when your Shock Charge explodes. This also resets the cool down on Cool Head and Defensive Screen.

Cool Head: This is an insta-cast ability which will recover 50 of your previously used energy over the course of 3 seconds. It has an awfully long cool down time of 120 seconds, but that can be amended with using the Detonate from Sabotage to reset it.

Speed Shot and Charged Burst: I won’t delve too deep into these two, as they are often seen as being outside the Saboteurs’ field. Don’t let those people fool you though; your damage potential is greatly increased when you include these abilities into your combos. They are effectively pistol damage nukes, and they do a good job of what they do even without lots of skill talents invested in them.

SWTOR Sentinel Focus PvP Build

Welcome to our build guide for the Jedi Knight, this particular guide will focus on the SWTOR Sentinel Focus Build. Throughout this guide we will first look at the actual top rated build itself, followed by a brief play style guide, as well as some general tips and reminders to look at, and the we will briefly go over a few of the key talents and abilities for this build. Now let’s get started!

SWTOR Sentinel Focus PvP Build

http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#501bcZMMZRrRrzrMdGR.1

SWTOR Sentinel Focus PvP Build Playstyle

Here we’re going to discuss a PvP based build, feel free to use this for PvE as well but I would recommend slightly tweaking this build if you are going to go that route. The focus tree is very strong for PvP at level 50, and can really dominate other classes in 1v1 combat especially.

First I’m going to talk a little bit about the general playstyle, and then follow up with some tips and reminders before going into the key abilities. So one thing you should know about PvP playstyles is there is no real rotation or strict priority list, that certainly doesn’t mean that you just button mash, it means that you need to pay extra attention to whats going on and using your proper abilities for the proper situation.

Force Sweep, these are two words you should know when playing Focus PvP, this is going to be your main damage source. Now, don’t just go in and spam Force Sweep, you’ll want to make sure that first you have the Felling Blow buff from Force Leap which is something you’ll be wanting to use regardless especially in PvP, the leap deals some decent damage as well as immobilizing the target for 2 seconds and interrupting them if they are casting.

SWTOR Sentinel Focus PvP Build Playstyle (Cont.)

Now that you’ve leaped in and have Felling Blow buffed, your next force sweep will crit guaranteed. Another thing you’ll want to pay attention to is your Singularity stacks, the stack cap for this is 4 so you’ll want to try and have that, reason being is that it will increase the damage by force sweep by 50% (12.5% for each stack)

So you have 4 stacks of singularity, you force leaped in and have felling blow, and your Force Sweep is not only going to deal 50% increased damage, it is also going to guarantee crit and deal anywhere from 2k – 4k damage depending on what class and how well geared your targeted opponent is.

If you don’t have the Singularity stacks prior to force leaping in, you’ll want to try something like this: Force leap to your target, follow this with a Force Exhaustion, use a Zealous Strike and then once you’ve got the 4 stacks of Singularity use your Force Sweep as your Felling Blow lasts 15 seconds it will for sure still be up. If you use all these abilities your opponent will nearly be at 50% hp for an average opponent already.

This is going to take a lot of practicing and tweaking as I’ve said because of trying to ensure you’ve got those 4 Singularity stacks and Felling blow before Force Sweeping, if you’ve got 2-3 stacks then go for it because you’ll still deal a high amount of damage. On top of this you’ve got one more thing to worry about, focus. If you’re low on focus you may not be able to execute this full rotation so maybe mix in some focus regenerative abilities before trying to pull of the Force Sweep.

SWTOR Sentinel Focus PvP Build Tips/Reminders

Keep an eye on your interrupting abilities such as Force Leap, watch your opponent if they’re casting a big time heal and quick Force Leap if it is off cooldown to interrupt this.

As I’ve stated multiple times try as hard as you can to keep Singularity stacks and Felling Blow buff rolling. It’s so important to your Force Sweep and you’ll realize this the more you play the build.

SWTOR Sentinel Focus PvP Build Key Abilities

Zealous Leap: Here we have an alternative to Force Leap or an addition as it will also cause Felling Blow to occur, it simply leaps to the target dealing moderate damage, however, a nice PvP perk is the Agility Training talent which increases movement speed by 40% for 5 seconds after using Zealous Leap. This allows you to jump to a target and keep up with them if they have any speed buffs going as well.

Felling Blow: Causes both Force Leap and Zealous leap to guarantee a critical hit from your next sweep attack in the next 15 seconds.

Focused Resonance: This talent will increase all critical strike damage of force attacks by 30%, remember how Force Sweep is going to have 50% increased damage from Singularity as well as a guarantee crit from Felling Blow? Add this in there just to make yourself even stronger.

Force Exhaustion: The final talent in the Focus talent tree is Force Exhaustion, which progressively slows the target from 60-10% movement speed over 5 seconds and deals 302 damage per second, and then at the end of the duration it will crush the target for 804 damage.

SWTOR Sentinel Combat Build

Welcome to our build guide for the Jedi Knight, this particular guide will focus on the SWTOR Sentinel Combat Build. Throughout this guide we will first look at the actual top rated build itself, followed by a brief play style guide, as well as some general tips and reminders to look at, and the we will briefly go over a few of the key talents and abilities for this build. Now let’s get started!

SWTOR Sentinel Combat Build

http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#501bcZGGbrddMoMsZG.1

SWTOR Sentinel Combat Build Playstyle

Alright, now that you’ve got the particular build for the Sentinel Combat class, I’m going to get more into how you actually play the build. As you know, just plugging in the talent points to the right places are going to do jack unless you are using the right abilities at the right time and utilizing your buffs and debuffs and much much more! In this section I’ll cover most of that, and then I’ll cover some general tips and reminders, and then head into the key abilities and you’ll be set to go practice.

Now, for the Jedi Knight you know that your resource is focus, focus is regenerated over time and can also be regenerated by using certain abilities. Focus is also mainly going to be used as a cost for your better abilities, therefore it is important to utilize your focus the best way possible so you can use your best abilities and then regen focus abilities so it’s possible to use the best ones every cooldown.

When you’re low on focus you will want to use your Zealous Strike and Strike abilities to regenerate focus, also keep in mind that your Force Leap ability will regenerate focus and this is one of your main rotation abilities so that helps. Zealous Strike is on a 12 second cooldown so when you are regenerating focus use this first and follow up with a strike or two and you should be set to go back into this rotation:

First you will want to use Precision Slash, followed by a Blade Storm, and then a Blade Rush. Precision Slash is something you really want to prioritize as it gives you an insane 100% armor penetration buff which is amazing, also make sure you are using it before your other abilities as it will amplify their damage due to the buff. Your Blade Rush ability will grant 6 seconds of increased ataru form procs, therefore the armor penetration buff greatly amplifies that.

So for a base rotation should be Force Leap to start, followed by a Zealous Slash, this will generate a good amount of focus to follow the rest of the rotation which will be a Precision Slash, a Blade Rush, followed by a Blade Storm, and then another Blade Rush. Now you have about a 6 second window to use another Force Leap or Zealous Strike or Strike to regenerate some more focus.

SWTOR Sentinel Combat Build Tips/Reminders

I’ve been emphasizing this throughout the playstyle, but you really need to be aware of that 100% armor penetration bonus from Precision Slash, this is so useful! Make sure you aren’t using high damage abilities such as Blade Storm and Blade Rush unless you have the Precision Slash buff going as they will be somewhat wasted.

As for stats you will want to reach the Accuracy cap before really worrying about anything else, once you’ve got that the next most important statistic is Strength, get as much as you can and if you aren’t able to get gear with strength you’ll want Power as a next best thing. After that Surge and Critical strike are both OK but won’t be quite as useful as Strength and Power but can be used as a last resort.

SWTOR Sentinel Combat Key Abilities

Ataru Form: This form will increase your accuracy by 3%, keep this in mind when building for that accuracy cap so you aren’t gearing for too much accuracy as that is a waste, so make sure when setting up all your gear that your Ataru form is ACTIVE at that time. Your ataru mastery talent will increase the damage dealt from your Ataru Form attacks, these are another bonus that comes with the form. All of your successful melee attacks have a 20% chance to trigger an Ataru Strike for 229 damage, however this cannot occur more than once per 1.5 seconds.

Precision Slash: Slashes the target for 253 – 387 weapon damage and grants Precision for 6 seconds, increasing armor penetration by 100%. Oh hey look, we’re talking about this again, must mean it is pretty important! Remember to utilize this whenever possible and you’ll do just fine.

Blade Rush: Strikes the target for 247 – 378 weapon damage, this attack will automatically trigger an Ataru Strike, additionally, for the next 6 seconds after using Blade Rush your Ataru form has a 30% increased chance to inflict another Ataru Strike for the next 6 seconds.

SWTOR Gunslinger Sharpshooter Build

Welcome to our build guide for the Smuggler, this particular guide will focus on the SWTOR Gunslinger Sharpshooter Build. Throughout this guide we will first look at the actual top rated build itself, followed by a brief play style guide, as well as some general tips and reminders to look at, and the we will briefly go over a few of the key talents and abilities for this build. Now let’s get started!

SWTOR Gunslinger Sharpshooter Build

http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#700bsrbdMsRgzZbZGb.1

SWTOR Gunslinger Sharpshooter Build Play Style

The Gunslinger Sharpshooter is a class that uses Cover, in essentially the same way an Imperial Agent might. Your most powerful and core abilities (Charged Burst and Aimed Shot) require you to execute them from cover. There are three different types of cover. Natural cover is anything in your environment marked by a green outline of your character. You are able to roll into this cover by way of the cover button (default button for this being “F”) and you are granted immunity from regular attacks as long as you stay inactive and behind the cover. On top of that, your defensive rating is increased in the 45 degree fire zone in front of you. The other top of cover is “Crouch in Place” which essentially is not cover in and of itself, but merely a means to execute cover-only abilities. The third form of cover is Personal Shielding, which is an energy shield your character throws out in front of him or herself. The added benefit to this is, you gain a buff called Unshakable which makes you uninterruptable while in cover.

You may feel at first that environmental cover is obviously the superior choice, as it grants damage resistance and immunity to regular attacks, but the problem with that kind of “static” cover is that you are awfully limited to where you will be firing from. This is maybe not so much of an issue in PvE, but in PvP there are arguably better choices. Using Personal Shielding is often the best route to go, as you aren’t forced into any set location. This means you can set up your shielding at a safe distance away from the action, rather than possibly taking the environmental cover that is closer to the fight. Gunslingers are a ranged class by nature, and your encounters can only benefit from keeping distance.

With that being said, you will also benefit from keeping on the move and being aware of your surroundings. While strafing a target, keep on the lookout for anyone (or anything) that is closing in on you. A good Gunslinger is obsessively compulsive about his personal space, and should do his or her best to keep all enemies out of it.

SWTOR Gunslinger Sharpshooter Build Tips/Reminders

Move your camera! The best way to remain mindful of your surroundings is to always be panning your camera about while you move around, and even while you suppress targets. Get used to having a twitchy mouse hand, and work on coordinating your camera panning and character movement to give you the most control over the battle area as possible.

When you place your Personal Shielding cover, pay attention to where you are placing it. By placing it in an area that provides natural cover already (such as a large rock, pillar, support strut etc.) you limit line-of-sight to yourself, thus diminishing your enemies’ vectors of attack by one (or even more!). With that, try to keep an exit strategy in mind when placing cover. It isn’t a good idea to throw down your shield with your back to a wall, or large drop-off. Instead, make sure you have multiple ways to escape. By placing it in front of a nearby ramp or tunneled corridor you increase your chances of living to tell the tale.

SWTOR Gunslinger Sharpshooter Build Key Abilities/Talents

Aimed Shot: This is a de facto damage nuke ability. Aimed Shot will deal 612-935 weapon damage, but must be executed from cover. Pair this with skills such as Sharp Aim (makes Aimed Shot ignore 20% of the target’s armor) or Percussive Shot (which will knock a target back several meters) to make a formidable base damage ability.

Speed Shot: This ability is another core damage nuke; it deals 725-1108 weapon damage over the duration of the ability. Skills like Steady Shots, Slick Shooter, and Quick Aim all work to make this ability even more deadly. Buffing its damage, critical damage, and ability to reduce the cool down of Aimed Shot respectively.

Leg Shot: Probably one of the best reasons to play a Gunslinger. This ability deals very low weapon damage (136-208) but it immobilizes the target for 5 seconds, or only 2 if you continue to attack. When used with the skill Trip Shot (which reduces the cool down by 3 seconds) you have a stun ability at hand that recharges at an almost overpowered rate.

SWTOR Shadow Kinetic Combat Build

Welcome to our build guide for the Jedi Counselor, this particular guide will focus on the SWTOR Shadow Kinetic Combat Build. Throughout this guide we will first look at the actual top rated build itself, followed by a brief play style guide, as well as some general tips and reminders to look at, and the we will briefly go over a few of the key talents and abilities for this build. Now let’s get started!

SWTOR Shadow Kinetic Combat Build Guide

http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#601rsrokrskbsZZf0cM.1

SWTOR Shadow Kinetic Combat Build Guide Play Style

With this build your main focus is not conserving your force points, but more utilizing a few of your short cool down abilities, while keeping your longer cool down high damage abilities in mind. You’re mainly melee but you do have a few ranged moves, with this you’re highly versatile and self-defending with a few self only heals.

You’re going to want to focus around your shorter cool down high damage abilities mostly for your rotation, only opening up with your longer cool down abilities and using them again to open up your next fight. With this sort of play style you will be sacrificing a lot of your Force Points very quikly in the beginning of the fight, but if you do it right, you should not have to worry about that because they steadily regenerate.

You want to open up your fights with Saber Strike, pretty basic, but then you want to follow that up with Kinetic Ward, for extra defense. After that try to use Force Breach if it’s up, you should be using it every time it is up. Then you want to use Slow Time, or Force Balance If it’s off cool down, followed by Kinetic Throw, and then spinning Strike if the target is at 30% health or less. Now you want to use Mind Crush, and then Project, or Whirling Blow, if it is a multiple target scenario. Finally follow all of that up with Double Strike.

Keep in mind the few abilities I mentioned that you should be using on every cool down, those are the abilities that will give you the most amount of damage for a good cost. Even if it breaks up your rotation use these abilities on cool down.

SWTOR Shadow Kinetic Combat Build Guide Tips/Reminders

Don’t be afraid to spend your Force Points, you have a steady flow of them and ways to regain faster. Your opening attacks will be using up a lot of your force points no matter what route you go, that is if you want to do as much damage as you can.

Remember with this build you’re very self-sufficient, meaning you can be right in the middle of the battle to ensure you’re always hitting the right enemy. If you’re getting hit, just throw up a shield and heal yourself, you don’t need to be careful with this build, just stay attentive.

It’s important that you’re always keeping up with the tank, and listening to what he’s saying, he’s more or less the leader of the group and he is giving good directions as to what you should be doing, if he is a good tank. If no one is talking in your team, try to spark up some conversation, because if you get them talking they’re more likely to discuss the fights on hand, and always be polite.

SWTOR Shadow Kinetic Combat Build Guide Key Abilities/Talents

Slow Time: this is a great ability because it’s not only a bit of instant damage on top of being a ranged attack, but it’s also an AoE slow, and de-buff. Try not to use this in PvE to often though, because it does generate a very large amount of threat. This will Slow the Passage of time for up to 5 targets, dealing 574-686 kinetic damage and decreasing the damage all targets deal by 5%. Lasts 15 seconds.

Force Pull: This is a really great ability purely for the fun factor, it does help if you’re needed for off-tanking because it’s another high threat generation ability, but in PvP it’s great for dragging your target closer to yourself. It uses the force to draw the target in, instantly pulling it to your location and generating a large amount of threat.

Particle Acceleration: This ability is key for your ability cool downs, it’s really nice if you happen to remove the cool down on Project. While Combat Technique is active, Double Strike and Whirling Blow have a 50% chance to finish the cool down on project and make your next Project a critical hit. Accelerated Projects that consume a charge of Force Potency deal and additional 50% critical damage.

SWTOR Sentinel Watchman Build Playstyle

So now that you’ve got the build you’re probably going to want to know just how exactly to put it to use, I’ll cover a general playstyle in this section as far as rotations go and then follow up with some tips and reminders before going into the key abilities and then it’s time to try it out in-game! So lets get started.

Now, as a Jedi Knight you have focus as a resource, therefore when trying to come up with a solid rotation you’ll need to split it up slightly because for portions of the fight you’ll have high amounts of focus whereas other parts you’ll need to regenerate that focus. I’ll start of with a rotation/priority list for when you have focus: You’ll want to use force leap to jump into the fight, immediately after you’ll want to put up overload saber to increase damage from following attacks.

After this you’ll want to use a zealous strike, followed by a cauterize, and then either a Blade storm or a Merciless Slash. At this point if you are needing focus start using some regenerative abilities or abilities that will not cost you any focus to allow you to regenerate, otherwise repeat starting with force leap.

Now, force leap and zealous strike both will generate some focus for you and generally this will be enough to keep that solid rotation going, but if for whatever reason you end up running out of focus try going with a rotation that is something along the lines of: force leap followed by a force spender such as cauterize and then zealous strike right after and then another force spender and then another force leap until you’ve regenerated enough focus to use a lot of abilities in a row.

It really takes a little getting used to and a lot of tweaking even with each different boss fight as some will have more downtime then others, so feel free to really mess around with it. This is a pretty loose guideline but still works great for something to build off of and really any type of similar rotation and playstyle in regards to this while using this build is going to be effective.

SWTOR Sentinel Watchman Build Tips/Reminders

One thing you should really practice is making sure that all of your damage over time effects are going at the same time while keeping your Merciless buff rolling, at the same time you also want to be watching that Cauterize cooldown. This does take quite a bit of getting used to and you’ll need to pay attention to a lot of different things.

If you are having a lot of trouble keeping track of all of this, don’t worry about it as much for now, try working on it somewhere other than progression raids because you don’t want to get so distracted paying attention to your DoTs, buffs, and cooldowns you can lose concentration on whats going on in the fight and will likely die.

SWTOR Sentinel Watchman Build Key Abilities

Overload Saber: I touched on this ability a tad bit earlier, as I said it will increase the damage on your next three attacks, specifically it will make the next three attacks burn the target for 402 damage over 6 seconds. This effect will stack up to three times so you shouldn’t worry about attacking once, waiting 6 seconds and then attacking again. However this effect does last for 15 seconds so it doesn’t need to be utilized right away, also, it cannot stack more then once every 1.5 seconds.

Repelling Blows: This is an honorable mention talent, it really isn’t anything complicated but I like to point on something nice when it is there, it will increase the direct damage from Cauterize by 30%, just something to keep in mind when considering which abilities are more important than others.

Plasma Blades: Increases the damage from your burn effects by 6%, keep this in mind when thinking about your burn damage over time abilities which are pretty relevant for the Watchman build, just know that they are a little more significant to keep on your target because of this talent.

Merciless Slash: A really cool ability right here, Merciless Slash will strike the target with both lightsabers for 528 – 808 weapon damage. But that’s not all, each time you use this ability you will be given a Merciless Buff, this buff will last for 15 seconds, lowering the cooldown of your next Merciless Slash by 1.5 seconds and stacking up to 3 times, this means you want to make sure you are using Merciless Slash regularly to ensure that it reaches 3 stacks of Merciless and that those stacks stay on.

Force Leap: I mentioned this ability earlier on, it will cause you to jump to a target dealing 1347 – 1437 damage and immobilizing the target for 2 seconds if possible as well as interrupting their current action if possible. On top of that it will build 3 focus, which is why you should be utilizing it pretty often because it builds force and deals decent damage and serves as an interrupt!
