The Jedi Guardian is one of the advanced classes of the Jedi Knight class, the other one being Jedi Sentinel.
This class is primarily a tank, although it can alternatively DPS too. Through concentration and focus the Jedi Guardian attains great agility even though they wear heavy armors.
They wield single Sabers and are mainly a melee class. They are great for holding aggro off multiple mobs.

SWTOR Jedi Guardian Vigilance Tree
The DPS tree of the Jedi Guardian, this tree mainly focuses on bringing down enemies using the single bladed saber.
SWTOR Jedi Guardian Defense Tree
This is the tanking tree of the Jedi Guardian class which is also the main aspect of the Jedi Guardian class. Their role revolves around taking all the damage and protecting their allies. They also hold good aggro on the mobs. They do so using the numerous abilities and skills that help them hold threat on mobs.
SWTOR Jedi Guardian Skills
1. Armor Proficiency: Shield Generator (Passive) – Able to equip a personal shield generator.
Allows the Jedi Guardian to equip shield generator. The Shield generator creates a force field around the Jedi Guardian, thus increasing his defense greatly.
2. Armor Proficiency: Heavy (Passive) – Able to equip heavy combat armor.
Allows the Jedi Guardian to equip heavy combat armor. This allows them to withstand incoming damage and be good tanks.
3. Guardian Strike (Active) – Hits your target inflicting 110% weapon damage and generating a high amount of threat. This attack also boosts the Knight’s armor rating by 5% for 15 seconds. The armor bonus can be stacked up to 3 times. Grants 2 focus.
Bread and butter of the Jedi Guardian. Primary skill to generate threat on the mobs. Also increases armor rating by 5 % and can be stacked upto 3 times, that is 15 % increased armor rating. Use this to get good threat on the mob.
4. Cleave (Active) – Strikes all enemies in melee range dealing moderate weapon damage to them building high threat and immobilizing them for 6 seconds.
Great ability to get threat on multiple mobs. Use this while tanking a lot of mobs together so that your allies can AoE the mobs down easily.
5. Flourish (Active) – Forces opponent to attack the Knight for 6 seconds.
This is a taunt spell. When an ally pulls aggro off you, you can use this spell to force the opponent to attack you for some time, in the meanwhile you can build enough threat on that mob.
6. Hilt Strike (Active) – Stuns the target for 6 seconds and builds significant threat.
Another high threat generating spell. If you feel your allied DPS is going to pull aggro from you, then use this spell to make sure you have enough aggro on the mob
7. Challenging Call (Active) – Taunts all nearby enemies forcing them to attack the Knight for 6 seconds. Also increases the Knight’s chance to shield attacks by 60% for the duration.
This is an aoe taunt. Just like Flourish this will force all nearby enemies to attack you. Use this if someone pulls two or more mobs off you. Make sure to keybind this on an easy key, a mob gone haywire is a definite wipe.
8. Riposte (Active) – Makes a quick saber strike for moderate damage. Riposte can only be used after parrying, deflecting, or dodging an attack.
This is a quick reflex attack, when ever you avoid an attack, you make a quick attack. The higher your avoidance stats, the higher the chance you will be able to use this. So with this spell, you can make use of your avoidance stats to increase your DPS too.
9. Guardian Leap (Active) – Leaps to a group member dealing low damage and high threat to nearby enemies on landing and reducing the threat that party member generates for 6 seconds.
If every thing else fails, use this. Even after using all your taunts and threat increasing spells, if someone manages to pull off you, you can use this. It will instatly take ur Jedi Guardian to the allied member and instantly will pull the mob of your allied member.
SWTOR Jedi Guardian Gameplay Video
According to BioWare, all DPS classes will be similar. That is, Guardian (Vigilance tree) should be as effective as a Sentinel… I hope that’s true!
I find the SWTOR Jedi Guardian PvP Views of this psot to be completely false and fairly rediculous. I have to ask if the person who wrote this even has ever played the game. I have on multiple occasions and I can say for sure the Guardian has multiple PvP skills such as a Guard (50% of the target’s damage goes to the guardian), a taunt (makes the target deal 30% less damage to anyone besides the guardian), along with several CC abilities when paired together with your offensive skills can be a deadly combo. I honestly just about laughed when I read that and thought I was on the SWTOR forums for a second.
My post above does imply that the person playing has experiance tanking and playing MMO’s.
I agree with you! This was written way before I got a chance to play beta. I just found a list of skills for Guardian for the first time somewhere on the Internet and I thought I’ll share them. Thanks anyways, for bringing this to my attention.
