SWTOR Operative Concealment Build Play Style

The Operative Concealment class is a class best suited for the more patient, cunning player. It can sometimes take a great deal of effort and time to master, but it is worth it to stay with it and be patient. The Operative Concealment class when played successfully will take on the appearance of death itself to any opposition you may be faced with. Be it running PvE missions, group encounters, or in the heat of PvP, there is nothing more terrifying than an Operative who is Concealment specialized.

One of the biggest advantages this class holds over most others is that they possess the ability to become invisible, and conceal themselves. One of the biggest things you want to do before you even begin to work on your build, is learn how to use this to your advantage. It is best to learn it early on, as once you begin getting into tougher mission encounters, and especially the more cutting edge PvP encounters, it will mean the difference between life and death, experience gained or lost, and a positive or negative kill-death count.

Operatives who specialize in Concealment will still (contrary to most initial thoughts) get up close and personal with the enemy. This is because as well as having a blaster in hand, a good portion of your damage comes from slicing and dicing your enemies up. A lot of damage-over-time damage comes from your ability to get in close, backstab your enemy, and get back out of range before they can retaliate. An Operative who can keep this form of harassment going can easily dismantle a foe, without having to stand still to begin blasting them.

SWTOR Operative Concealment Build Tips/Reminders

As an Operative don’t be afraid to sit and camp an area in concealment while you wait for your victims to come to you. One of the most important things to stress about this build is that you ideally want to pick your targets carefully. In PvE feel free to open up on enemies and bosses with your damage-over-time abilities, as this will obviously yield the greatest amount of damage done to your target. In PvP there is a slightly different approach you can take. While you may feel obligated to get out there and start stabbing and blasting right away, there is nothing wrong with waiting in concealment while your teammates begin to whittle down a few of your opponents. Wait for the foe who is just over half health or below, who appears to be ready to run as soon as his health dips below the half mark. This is a prime time to engage them, as even if (and usually when) they begin to run, as long as you can manage to pull off executing your damage-over-time abilities, the kill is usually secured.

Overall awareness is still of importance in this class. In a team situation it may feel like second nature to run right up to a group of enemies and begin blasting and stabbing away, but your healing and defenses can only protect you so much. Operatives are a very DPS oriented class, so just take heed and pay attention to where your healer is and what the tank is engaging and you will do just fine.

SWTOR Operative Concealment Build Key Abilities/Talents

Stealth: This is your bread and butter. It has been previously stressed that learning how to use this ability in conjuncture to your play style is key, so not a whole lot of time will be spent going over this. But what the initial ability does, is it activates your stealth generator, turning you invisible to all enemies. Though it will slow your movement speed to 85%, you can get skills such as Infiltrator which will increase your movement speed by 15%, effectively negating this debuff of the Stealth ability. Other abilities such as Energy Screen will also make it so your healing and damage dealt will no longer be affected by Stealth.

Backstab: This ability is the basis for most of your damage-over-times. This ability can only be used when behind the target, and it deals 1067-1083 kinetic damage. With this build when you use such skills as Concealed Attacks, Surgical Strikes, and Waylay it grows to be even more powerful, and will become one of the mainstays of your kit.
