SWTOR Powertech Advanced Prototype Build Overview

Over the course of this guide I’ll go over a general playstyle for this particular build including a rotation guideline for you to follow, following that I’ll go over some general tips and reminders, and then move into the Key Abilities. Once I’ve covered all of that it’s time for you to jump in the game and plug everything in to put it to use! Honestly this build isn’t really a pure Advanced Prototype build, as you may have noticed there is 22 points in Advanced Prototype and 18 in Pyrotech, but this is the best way to utilize the points in the tree.

SWTOR Powertech Advanced Prototype Build Playstyle

It’s pretty simple, we’re just going to stick to a pretty solid rotation and there isn’t a whole lot more too it. Your top two abilities are going to be Rail Shot and Immolate. These are your two hardest hitting shots, and they also have 15 second cooldowns you’ll have to wait on giving you time to use other abilities.

Once you’ve used both of those you aren’t going to just sit around and wait 15 seconds, so you’ll want to use an Explosive Dart, followed by a Rapid Shot, next use your Retractable Blade, and then a Rocket Punch and a Flame Burst. At this point you’ll be able to use your Rail Shot and Immolate again and be back at square one and just need to keep repeating this.

You’ll notice this does require a slight amount of moving in and out of melee range in order to use all the abilities, this is totally worth it in order to utilize all of your best abilities. It will take some practice and getting used to but once you’ve done it enough it will become natural.

SWTOR Powertech Advanced Prototype Build Tips/Reminders

To be honest this is one the easiest builds and general play style I’ve covered in SWTOR, all you really need to worry about is keeping the rotation down and getting used to going in and out of melee range. One thing to remember is you shouldn’t re-apply your Damage over Time effect from Retractable Blade until it has fallen off unless you literally have nothing else to do, which you should never be in that situation.

Also Heat is something involved with all Bounty Hunters, therefore you’ll want to vent your heat out periodically to keep from overheating.

SWTOR Powertech Advanced Prototype Build Key Abilities

Retractable Blade: This ability will stab the target for 595 – 706 kinetic damage as well as cause them to bleed for 784 damage over 15 seconds. As I’ve stated earlier, try your best to not re-apply this effect until it has fallen off, it shouldn’t be hard to use other abilities in that 15 second time-frame.

Incendiary Missile: Fires a missile at your target dealing 313 – 424 damage directly as well as an additional 1178 damage over 18 seconds. As with retractable Blade, you will want to do your best to not re-apply this damage over time effect as well. It will be a little more tricky as it is an 18 second effect instead of a 15 second effect, so if you were planning on applying all DoTs one after another so you can re-apply them all one after another, you’ll need to re-think that strategy when planning to use Incendiary Missile.

Charged Gauntlets: Causes your Rocket Punch and Retractable Blade to have a 25% chance to cause your next Rail Shot to critically hit. You should be watching your Retractable Blade abilities to see if they proc Charged Gauntlets and if they do go ahead and fire a Rail Shot.
