SWTOR Powertech Shield Tech Build Guide Playstyle

Ideally with this build you are an all-around tank/off-tank. You have the option to take heavy damage, as well as put some damage out. It’s a very good build for whatever you’re looking to do while playing the Bounty Hunter! This build is very good for leveling because you can easily move from target to target, and you’re a fantastic tank for teams so you will get picked up usually when you’re looking for a group.

For solo leveling with this build you can even rely on your companion for healing you, you don’t need someone else for a healer. You want to be focusing your rotation around Shield Vents, Jet Charge, and Flame Shield. With this build those are going to be your main abilities and it’s really helpful to pay closer attention to them that others.

This build is a bit interesting because you’re not grabbing the final talent in your talent tree, because in all honesty it’s generally useless for tanking.  The main reason this build is so great is because of Jet Charge, this allows you to swiftly move from target to target similar to the Sith Warriors Force Charge ability. You also have a couple of nice DE buffs, one of them being oil slick, this is a great de-buff for both PvE and PvE.

You always want to be opening up with Jet Charge followed by Oil Slick for the de-buff, combined with your shielding talents you picked up this is great for both soloing and team fights. Your normal rotation is similar to all other Bounty Hunter rotations, you just want to utilize your heat venting ability’s and revolve around Burst.

SWTOR Powertech Shield Tech Build Guide Tips/Reminders

Don’t’ forget about your de-buffs, they will make a huge difference in your tanking ability with this build. Your revolving around endurance with your amour build so that combined with an abnormally large Shielding chance is extremely useful for solo leveling.

Don’t neglect your companion, if you keep its gear updated with plenty of cunning gear it can easily keep you alive in some of the more difficult fights, even when soloing. If you’re with a team and you see a good piece of gear for your companion and you want to roll need on it, just make sure your team knows why you’re rolling need on it, so it doesn’t seem like you just want it.

As always communication is very key for tanking, make sure your team always knows your intentions ahead of time, and make sure you’re stopping periodically and making sure everybody is ready for the next fight before you move on to it. Charging into battle can anger some people in your team and causing rifts in the team is only unhelpful to you and your whole team.
