SWTOR Scoundrel Scrapper PvP Build Playstyle

Alright, time to break down this build into a playstyle you can follow to be at the top of your game. I’ll warn you this guide is going to be a little more in-depth than some of the others I’ve written on this site, but the more information the better. Playing the Scrapper in PvP takes a lot of awareness, practice, studying, and general knowledge.

Energy is a high concern while playing the Scoundrel in any build, but especially as the Scrapper in PvP. Once you’ve dropped to around 10 energy you’re pretty much worthless. Cool Head is a good tool to help manage your energy as well as get some good damage going. Try to keep it available for when you’re running lower on energy.

You want to be very mobile, do your best to move around and get behind your enemies while fighting them, staying behind them will cause them to miss more abilities as well as force them to be more mobile, this is great for melee opponents or opponents you know have abilities with cast times, if you see them casting, move behind them to try and interrupt the cast that way.

If you have a lot of abilities on cooldown and you’ve got a melee based class charging you down, kite them. Kiting is an extremely useful tactic as a ranged character, using your snaring abilities and run as far and as fast as you can is a great way to repool your energy as well as burn those longer cooldown abilities. This tactic requires a lot of practice but once you’ve mastered kiting you’ll be one of the best pvpers out there.

Kick. Interrupts are vital in PvP, you see a healer about to cast a big heal, run up to them and kick them to interrupt and totally throw them out of their loop as well as probably cause an opponent to die because any time there’s a big heal going off they’re desperately trying to bring someone back up, interrupting this almost always causes a death that was almost prevented.

Flashbang is great ability to use, once you’ve flashbanged someone go into cover, now throw a sabotage on them. This sabotage is going to really hurt them, around the same damage as a backstab. Another thing to keep in mind is the fact that flashbang can heal you, so make good use of that.

A good solid rotation to deal roughly 8k damage directly and up to 2k damage per second afterwards would be something like this: Flashbang, then take cover and throw a sabotage charge, follow it up by an XS freighter and then a flechette round and finally a backblast. This is really effective on melee classes because they’ll need to stand in your fire in order to damage you. Still works well on ranged but just will be a little more effective on melee.

SWTOR Scoundrel Scrapper PvP Build Tips/Reminders

Honestly you’ve already got a lot on your plate to remember, however, we’ve still got a bit more to cover. Stealth is one thing you’re going to have to also try and utilize as the Scrapper, to be honest you deal so much damage with that burst rotation I talked about earlier even if you don’t master stealth you’ll still be a tough opponent in PvP, but it’s something to work on.

Remember to try and sneak before engaging an opponent, stealth doesn’t work really the same as it does in other games which allows you to leave and re-enter stealth more often then you’re used to if you play other rpgs, but using it ahead of time does really help especially if there are other stealth classes nearby. In a situation where you’re 1v1 with a stealth opponent 9 times out of 10 whoever gets the opening on the opponent is going to win the fight.

SWTOR Scoundrel Scrapper PvP Build Key Abilities

Sucker Punch: I haven’t talked about this ability yet, but it is something to keep locked in your arsenal of damage abilities. It requires that you have Upper Hand available, but if you do it will consume that Upper Hand to deal 1330 – 1552 damage to your target.

K.O.: This talent will cause your Shoot First ability (which should be your opener in most cases) to knock your target down for 3 seconds. This is really great in PvP as it will lock them down for 3 seconds and allow you to nuke them down with your high damage abilities and there isn’t a whole lot they’ll be able to do about it.

Flechette Round: I touched on this ability briefly in the rotation, basically it will load a “flechette round” which causes your next Shoot First ability or Back Blast ability to deal an additionally 1247 damage over 6 seconds. This will also increase your armor penetration by 50% for 15 seconds. One thing that makes this ability unique and awesome is that it will not break your stealth and ignores global cooldown so you don’t need to worry about using it and then a Shoot First because you can use both at the same time.

A great way to utilize this is to enter stealth, find a weak opponent, use Flechette Round and Shoot First at the same time as this will deal very high damage and knock them down due to K.O. and then move into the rotation from the playstyle, if the opponent is a weaker class or just not geared as well, you may be able to completely nuke them down before they can get back up from K.O.
