SWTOR Shadow Kinetic Combat Build Guide Play Style

With this build your main focus is not conserving your force points, but more utilizing a few of your short cool down abilities, while keeping your longer cool down high damage abilities in mind. You’re mainly melee but you do have a few ranged moves, with this you’re highly versatile and self-defending with a few self only heals.

You’re going to want to focus around your shorter cool down high damage abilities mostly for your rotation, only opening up with your longer cool down abilities and using them again to open up your next fight. With this sort of play style you will be sacrificing a lot of your Force Points very quikly in the beginning of the fight, but if you do it right, you should not have to worry about that because they steadily regenerate.

You want to open up your fights with Saber Strike, pretty basic, but then you want to follow that up with Kinetic Ward, for extra defense. After that try to use Force Breach if it’s up, you should be using it every time it is up. Then you want to use Slow Time, or Force Balance If it’s off cool down, followed by Kinetic Throw, and then spinning Strike if the target is at 30% health or less. Now you want to use Mind Crush, and then Project, or Whirling Blow, if it is a multiple target scenario. Finally follow all of that up with Double Strike.

Keep in mind the few abilities I mentioned that you should be using on every cool down, those are the abilities that will give you the most amount of damage for a good cost. Even if it breaks up your rotation use these abilities on cool down.

SWTOR Shadow Kinetic Combat Build Guide Tips/Reminders

Don’t be afraid to spend your Force Points, you have a steady flow of them and ways to regain faster. Your opening attacks will be using up a lot of your force points no matter what route you go, that is if you want to do as much damage as you can.

Remember with this build you’re very self-sufficient, meaning you can be right in the middle of the battle to ensure you’re always hitting the right enemy. If you’re getting hit, just throw up a shield and heal yourself, you don’t need to be careful with this build, just stay attentive.

It’s important that you’re always keeping up with the tank, and listening to what he’s saying, he’s more or less the leader of the group and he is giving good directions as to what you should be doing, if he is a good tank. If no one is talking in your team, try to spark up some conversation, because if you get them talking they’re more likely to discuss the fights on hand, and always be polite.

SWTOR Shadow Kinetic Combat Build Guide Key Abilities/Talents

Slow Time: this is a great ability because it’s not only a bit of instant damage on top of being a ranged attack, but it’s also an AoE slow, and de-buff. Try not to use this in PvE to often though, because it does generate a very large amount of threat. This will Slow the Passage of time for up to 5 targets, dealing 574-686 kinetic damage and decreasing the damage all targets deal by 5%. Lasts 15 seconds.

Force Pull: This is a really great ability purely for the fun factor, it does help if you’re needed for off-tanking because it’s another high threat generation ability, but in PvP it’s great for dragging your target closer to yourself. It uses the force to draw the target in, instantly pulling it to your location and generating a large amount of threat.

Particle Acceleration: This ability is key for your ability cool downs, it’s really nice if you happen to remove the cool down on Project. While Combat Technique is active, Double Strike and Whirling Blow have a 50% chance to finish the cool down on project and make your next Project a critical hit. Accelerated Projects that consume a charge of Force Potency deal and additional 50% critical damage.
