SWTOR Sorcerer Lightning Build Play Style

With this build critical hits are really your main focus, getting lucky with critical hits is extremely potent with this build because of all of your multi target/ Damage Over Time abilities. Your damage with this build is pretty insane if you prioritize your abilities right. Your Multiple target abilities are the great part of this build though.

You really want to always be leading off with affliction for your Area of Effect abilities. This should always start of your DPS rotation, followed by Thundering blast, and then you want to use your Chain lightning, at this point your have an option to go with the more AoE potent abilities, or if you want to use your single target abilities. It’s a situational decision, if there’s a lot of enemies in the area it would be wise to continue with Force Storm then re-rotate with Affliction, but if there’s only one target, or if you trying to DPS the boss, follow up Chain lighting with Force Lighting, then Lighting strike.

In PvP this play style/ rotation is pretty much the same thing, just try to prioritize single target abilities like Force Lighting and Lighting strike over just using your high cost AoE abilities. Backlash is another great PvP ability you want to rotate around mostly because if it’s damage an CC effects.

Keep in mind you always want to be prioritizing Affliction over every other ability because this is what you want to be leading off your rotation with for maximum damage potential. Its sustained damage is really outrageous, so using this first makes your job a bit easier when trying to do a lot of damage.

With this class you tend to be a bit squishy, so try to keep out of harm’s way as best you can. Buddy up with a Juggernaut or some other class who is very damage heavy and can tank if needed.  Your main focus is to make sure you’re taking as little damage as you possibly can while still being able to unleash your full damage from a safe distance.

SWTOR Sorcerer Lightning Build Key Abilities/Talents

Affliction: This is a great ability for sustained AoE damage. It’s what your want to be leading off all of you DPS rotations with.

Thundering Blast: A huge damage ability for the Sorcerer Lightning Build tree, This sends a thundering blast wave at a target that will deal 1003-1115 internal damage. Thundering Blast will automatically critically hit targets affected by your affliction.

Chain Lighting: This is a great AoE damage ability, this will deliver an arc of lighting that deals 1298-1410 damage to up to 5 targets within 8 meters. A pretty crazy damage ability if you think about it because that’s 1k damage to 5 different targets, so ideally you’re dealing 5000 damage with one ability.

Lighting Barrage: Afflictions critical hits now have a 100% chance to grant lighting barrage, cause your next Force Lighting to channel and tick twice as fast. This effect can only occur once every 10 seconds though.  This greatly just increases your overall damage output which is a great thing using this build and class, since your main focus is dealing a lot of damage.

Convection: This will increase the damage dealt by Lighting Strike, Crushing Darkness, Chain Lighting and Thundering Blast by 6%. This basically makes all of your AoE attacks to more damage which is never a bad thing.
