SWTOR Tips

I was reading through some nice blogs and forums and I came across a good list of SWTOR tips that I thought were worth sharing. If you are new to SWTOR then you would definitely find these tips useful. The game is going to be very competitive and you will want to have an edge to help your game play go smooth and with out problems. The following is a list of great SWTOR Tips:

1) Right after you have created your character, open the settings menu and turn on Area of Effect (AoE) looting. This will let you loot all items in a big radius, saving you a lot of time. Once you find your first companion you can send them off to town to sell the junk you have. It only take him 60 seconds and you can continue to quest.

2) Keep your companions equipped with good gear. The companions you do not use you wont have to worry about gear. For your favorite companion, however, you want to get the best gear you can for them. Keep in eye out in the auction house or get some of the companion only quest rewards for them

3) Get Commendations. Commendations are the way that you buy the special blue gear and the modifications that you can use with that gear. There are quest chains you follow that will end with the main planet quest that are named “Bonus phases”. These special quests will reward you with a large amount of commendations are they often give a very nice blue item as well.

4) Corpses will shine with a light on them if they are loot-able. The value of the items will depend on what color the light will be; grey items or credits will have a blue light, blue gear will have a dark blue light shine on them, epic items will have a purple light, and quest items will have a yellow light shine on them.

5) If you are having trouble with a boss monster during a quest, check your MISSION tab that is on your bags. There may be an item you are suppose to use to help you defeat the boss!

6) You can reset your skills with the aid of a <Skill Mentor> who is located in your capital of on your fleet ship. Advance Classes can NOT be reset once you have chosen your path.

7) On your fleet, there is a Light Side and a Dark Side gear vendor. These vendors sell gear that is attuned to either the light side or the dark side. Choices you make in the game will determine how far you are into the Light Side or the Dark Side of the Force.

8) During a quest dialog, you can see if a choice will give you Light Side points or Dark Side points. If you want to be surprised by the choice, you can turn off the knowing option in the settings menu. You can also turn on a setting to see a Light or Dark side symbol next to you dialog choice without mousing over.

9) You can not craft bags in Star Wars the Old Republic. You expand your inventory buy buying new inventory bags. The more you buy, the more expensive the inventory bags. The first bag is 5,000 credits, then it goes up to 20,000 credits. If you buy a bank expansion, it will cost you 20,000 credits also.

10) Once you reach level 25 you can train to pilot speeders. This skill cost 40,000 credits from your class trainer. The speeder itself costs 8,000 credits. This may seem like a lot, but its not hard to earn credits once you get higher levels. You make 50, 000 credits going from level 25 to level 26. The zones get larger are you gain experience, so you will want a speeder as quickly as you can.
