SWTOR Vanguard Basics

Vanguards are heavily armored and rely on shields. They are usually found on the front lines of the battle. Vanguards just like their name says are basically the tanks. What makes them special is that they are ranged and they are tanks.

They are the most important line of defense in the republic army. With this class you will get to play a tank as well as a short ranged DPS character.

 SWTOR Vanguard Weapons and Armor Guide

Due to their role in the game the Vanguards need to be decked in heavy armor. This helps them soak damage while staying in the front lines taking damage.

Their primary weapons are the blaster rifles just like the other Trooper Advanced class. Apart from these rifles they rely on Shields to soak damage.

 SWTOR Vanguard Talent Trees

The Vanguard Talent trees are Tactics and Shield Specialist. The shared Vanguard and Commando skill tree is Assault Specialist.

SWTOR Vanguard Talent Tree – Tactics

Tactics is the skill tree of the Vanguard class. This tree focuses mainly on close range combats. This is the DPS tree of the Vanguard Class.

The following are the skills of the tree.

 Gut – Close range attack causes X damage and a short bleed for Y damages every second for 6 seconds.

Rapid Surges – Reduces the cooldown of surges by 1.5 seconds and increases their crit chance by 6%

SWTOR Vanguard Talent Tree – Shield Specialist

Smoke Grenade – Throws a smoke grenade at your feet that releases a large cloud of smoke, causing nearby enemies to have their accuracy with ranged and melee attacks lowered by 20% for 18 seconds.

 Static Shield – 10% chance that blocking will increase the crit chance of the next Pulse Round or Explosive Surge by 100%. Effect lasts 10 seconds and cannot occur more than once every 10 seconds.
